If you're looking for a new paintball experience, Paintball League of America is the perfect choice. We have a new and unique approach to the game, with innovative gameplay and rules that will challenge you in exciting new ways. Our league is local to Connecticut, New York and New Jersey and we welcome players of all levels to join us. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a newbie, our friendly and welcoming atmosphere will make you feel right at home.

Standard Elimination

Standard elimination style where you must completely eliminate the other team. If you don't eliminate the other team by the end of the time, both teams lose.

Frenemies Match

Your best friend may soon be your own worst enemy. The top 4 teams will square off together first taking their favorite 3 people on each team and having them bad together. 1st & 4th vs 2nd & 3rd. Whichever teams wins will disband back to their original team to face against their former bestie who helped them win moments earlier.

Capture the Flag with respawn

Ready set go! Go get that flag and bring it back to your own side. If you get out, there is a 1 minute wait to respawn penalty. Run out of paintballs, that's too bad! You should of brought all of the supplies you need onto the field and then some. Remember best 2 out of 3 wins!

Rules & Regulations

****Please note that the rules here are unique to PLA and are not tied to any other leagues including our ranking system****

Players will be chosen at random or if they are believed to be firing hot (over the limit).

Please Note: If caught adjusting you firing speed in a game the player will be kicked from the rest of the games for the day and they will forfeit the round giving the win to the other team.

Game play for standard elimination is 5 minutes and will begin within 2 minutes of the other game ending.

Each team can have up to 6 players on their roster.

During semi final matches where a win is needed over shooting will cause the individual to have the points penalized on the following tournament. This will cause the team to start negative on points out of the gate for the next tournament.

Overshooting/Excessive Shooting

Overshooting/Excessive Shooting

  • 3 paintball breaks is considered overshooting

  • 3 breaks or more is 1 point lost

  • 4 breaks or more is 3 points lost

  • 5 breaks or more is 5 points that are lost and 1 point goes to the other team

  • Once a player is eliminated they must put their barrel plug in and leave the field

Elimination

  • Fake Breaking - If someone that is being shot at is attempting to earn points by intentionally walking into a stream of paint the shooter will not be penalized nor will the person walking into the stream of paint. This should be punishment unto itself

  • What is considered as being eliminated: Being shot anywhere on the body including anything that is being held or hanging off (harnesses, tubes etc.). Getting hit anywhere in the gun also will eliminate a player.

  • When a player is eliminated they must immediately yell “out” place a barrel stopper over the barrel of the gun facing the gun down and remove yourself quickly from the field. proceed off the field to the safe area. From there they must not help either team. They cannot communicate via hand signal, voice, text, code etc to their team about the other team or their teams positions or they risk disqualification and forfeit the round. First infraction - warning Second infraction - removal from all tournament games for the rest of that day.

Point System

  • 1 elimination = 1 point

  • 2 eliminations = 2 points

  • 3 eliminations = 3 points

  • 4 eliminations = 4 points

  • 5 eliminations = 10 points

  • Ties where there is no winner results in each team losing their points

In Elimination there are no ties. If the clock runs out then all of the points that are were made in the game are then lost. For instance, if Red teams eliminates 4 people earning 4 points and the Blue team eliminates 3 people earning 3 points but the time runs out. Both teams will be awarded 0 points whereas as the Red team eliminates 5 people or the whole team for the win then, the Red team earns 10 points and the Blue team earns 3 points for eliminating 3 of the Red team members.

The top 4 teams will move forward to compete.

Once there are 4 teams then they will play a frenemies match where the 1st and the 4th place team play on the same team essentially going from a team of 5 to a team of 6 (3 players from 1st place team and 4th place team) to compete against teams ranked 2nd and 3rd and their combined team of 6 to compete in the finals. Whichever team of 6 wins, they will then separate themselves back into their original teams and play against their former allied team. This game is 5 minutes long.

Once the top two teams are left they will play a game of capture the flag.

To advance to the next league for the first 3 divisions would be a first place win.

Once you advance to the next tier you are ineligible to play in the tier league that you just came from for prizes. As a benefit of winning you are allowed to play against the top half of teams with a 50% discount on admission.

Capture the Flag with Respawn

This is played with a 10 minute time limit. The object is to take the flag that is placed in the middle and bring it back to their own side for the win. During the duration of the game there are no permanent eliminations. Each time someone is eliminated it is for 60 seconds. The time for that starts as soon as they get to the respawn area. Once they have completed the 60 seconds they are allowed to get to the immediate bunker without being eliminated and they must not shoot as well when they are on their way to the bunker. Once at the closest bunker they’re back in and allowed to shoot and be eliminated. If they shoot at this time they have to go back to the respawn area for 120 seconds. Best 2 out 3 wins.

If there is a tie due to timing out it becomes a 2 vs 2 elimination game. With a 2 minute limit.

Penalties

Sandbagging - This is when a team has players from a higher ranking division roster added onto a lower division roster where they play against inexperience players giving them the advantage. The penalty is a 3 year ban for the person who is added onto the lower ranked team and $1000 penalty to the entire team before they can play again. They will also forfeit that current tournament.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct - Anything deemed to be extremely unprofessional and unkind to other players. This will include cursing/profanity, fighting, shooting another player before/after a game has ended. This is not limited to intimidation, instigating and threats and anything else that puts the players and the sport in a negative light. 1st infraction warning 2nd infraction 5 points 3rd infraction 5 points and expulsion from the current tournament.

False Starts - A false start will be a 1 point penalty and will make the other team move 2 giant steps forward.

False Lead - This is if someone not backing up to the start position. 1st infraction warning 2nd infraction 1 point penalty and the opposing teams moves 2 giant steps in any direction of their liking.

Wiping off Paint - This is a 10 point penalty for the first offense, 25 points for the 2nd offense and expulsion for the 3rd offense, expulsion from current game 25 point penalty and expulsion from next tournament.

Out of Bounds - 5 point penalty, there is no reason why someone is going around the boundaries unless to do something unethical or unfair.

Late Start - If a team is not ready for a game then the players that aren’t ready do not play.

Shooting at a dead player - Don’t, if seen shooting on more than one occasion it is a 2 point penalty. This may happen from time to time so if someone is walking off without their gun over their head then it is not necessarily the person’s fault who is shooting at them.

Excessive clothing/padding - If it is deemed that there is too much clothing being worn to help prevent paintballs from breaking there will be a 10 point penalty in addition to the removal of clothing. Understanding that in the winter people wear excess layers. This would be in excess of excess.

Faking that your out is not allowed and will be penalized by being out the next 2 rounds as well, with a 5 point penelty.

If a team has won to the point where they are not eligible to play in the same tournament anymore they can have the option to play without prizes against the best top 6 teams for a discount. The players that are not eligible for prizes will be guaranteed 4 games.

There are no smoke grenades permitted in and there are no listening devices allowed. Using your cell phone to text, zoom, skype, talk etc is prohibited.

Tournaments operate under common sense rules. For example it would not be appropriate to run out of bounds and to sneak around the other team to get them out. If it seems like it is unfair or doesn’t make sense it probably won’t fly in our tournaments.

Payment

Paying for the tournament ends typically on the Sunday before each tournament. Avoid fees by paying early.

Prizes are cash/check/Zelle and will be mailed to the winning participants individually within 1 week of when the tournament ends. There are no refunds, there is a lot of coordination and expense to running tournaments and we won’t be able to refund.

Questions? Email info@paintballleagueofamerica.com
